OB00DY55 Customer-oriented laboratory services (5 cr)

Objectives Laboratory work: the student can apply professional ethical principles in a customer-oriented way in laboratory and guest analytical services. The student will be able to apply the principles of the laws governing patient privacy and data protection rights in customer service. The student will be able to act in accordance with agreed policies in the provision of care and patient examinations. The student will develop and evaluate professional teaching and guidance skills for clients of the laboratory in a goal-oriented manner. They identify their knowledge needs, search for information effectively and critically and relate it to their own knowledge base.
Nursing: the student understands the importance of client/patient-centred encounters in the client/carer relationship. The student considers patient safety in his/her work on the ward: acts aseptically in patient contact, understands cooperation with wards, knows the daily schedule and facilities of the ward, knows how to use the patient bed. The student will be trained in patient examination and monitoring: he/she will be able to assess the patient's condition (blood pressure and pulse), to administer EpiPen injection in case of emergency.
Informatics: information retrieval. The student will be able to use the main databases in the field to search for information.
Content Client-oriented laboratory work and referral of clients for investigations. Patient clients and treatment skills. Legislation in health care client work. Planning, implementation and evaluation of teaching and guidance skills. Knowledge acquisition.

Demonstration of teaching and supervision skills through group work in a seminar.
Nursing: the student will be able to provide a client/patient-centred encounter in the client/carer relationship.
The student knows how to work in a patient-safe manner on the ward: acts aseptically in patient contacts, understands cooperation with wards, knows the daily schedule and facilities of the ward, knows how to use the patient bed.
