Maalisuora - ICT event for companies and students

The Maalisuora event, which has already become a tradition, will be organized again this fall on November 21, 2023! It's time to bring OAMK students and companies together.

Maalisuora 2023

Oamk, in cooperation with Business Oulu, organizes a ICT industry event, "Maalisuora", at Oamk's Linnanmaa campus. The event brings ICT students and companies closer to each other. The language of the event is Finnish and English.

At the event, companies have presentation booths where they can present their own activities to the students.

With its presentation booth, the company has many opportunities:

  • Presentation of the company's activities, products and services: The company can present its activities, latest products and services at its presentation point. This provides an opportunity to tell the students what kind of skills the design and implementation of the products required.
  • Interaction with students: Company representatives can answer students' questions, share their experiences and offer perspectives on working life.
  • Recruitment opportunities: The company can use the introduction point to identify and recruit potential employees. Students can leave their CV and discuss possible internships or future job opportunities.
  • Project work opportunities: The company can present project and final work opportunities to students. There are more than 200 3rd-year IT students alone looking for various interesting opportunities

As the students tour the presentation points, the companies have the opportunity to arouse the students' interest and give them a concrete idea of what working in their company could be like. The event can serve as a springboard for future cooperation. 

Goals of the event

  • To bring students closer to companies in the field and their expectations from employees
  • Increases students knowledge of ICT companies in Oulu and Finland
  • Offer companies and students an opportunity to discuss and network
  • Offer companies the opportunity to present possible company-oriented project topics to students and to talk with potential creators

Oulu Engineers Association offers free CV photo shoot during the event by a professional photographer. Do not miss this opportunity!

Event schedule and content

Monday 20 November 2023

2-3 p.m.: Remote event where Oulu Engineers and Business Oulu will present students with the future prospects of the IT industry, the employment situation and salary information.

Tuesday 21 November 2023

  • 8:00 a.m.: Companies can start preparing their presentation booths
  • 9 am to 12 pm: Third and fourth year students visit the event area
  • 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Second and first year students visit the event area
  • 4 p.m.: Dismantling of presentation booths
