TM00DY03 | Mechanical Elements (5 cr) |
Prerequisites | No prerequisites. |
Objectives | You recognize machine parts and understand their operating principles. You can design versatile solutions for device applications. |
Content | Power supplies, shaft and hub joints, transmission (gears, belt transmissions, chain transmissions), forces resisting speed change, application of the energy principle to simplify power and load calculations, typical applications of different bearing types, dimensioning of bearings, nominal life, axle types and materials, simplified axle dimensioning, springs in machine building, screw connection applications and screw connection dimensioning |
Recommended optional programme components | If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan. |
Accomplishment methods | To be agreed in the beginnig of the course. |
Execution methods | To be agreed in the beginnig of the course. |
Materials | To be agreed in the beginnig of the course. |

Evaluation Criteria | 0-5 |
Evaluation Criteria |
satisfactory (1-2) You name the machine parts used in mechanization and tell them in your own words about their operating principles. You are able to justify the principles with simplified calculations. good (3-4) In simplified design tasks, you apply standards and basic dimensioning methods related to machine parts excellent (5) You select machine parts for mechanization you produce design solutions for device applications. In the design solution, you present alternative methods of implementation. You evaluate component choices from the perspective of product costs, reliability, and overall feasibility. |
