OF00DM10 Empowered by Meaningful Experiences in Nature (4 cr)
Prerequisites No prerequisites needed.
Objectives The student knows the elements of a meaningful experience as an empowering social and participating process. The student applies the framework of meaningful experience when planning, implementing and evaluating his/her own experience as well as other students' and reflects on how to use the framework with clients. The student plans and executes outdoor activities in nature in a safe and ecological way, as a part of interprofessional and intercultural team. The student understands the importance of meaningfulness in one's well-being. The student identifies new competences and emotions as a person and has insights how he/she can apply these competencies as a professional.
Content Meaningful experiences. Empowerment. Green care. Basic skills for coping in nature. Safety and ecology aspects while planning and carrying out out-door activities. Planning and carrying out activities in nature by applying the framework of triangle of meaningful experience and knowledge of empowerment. Personal and professional growth through reflecting meaningfulness of experience.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Participation on 4-5 compulsory international webinars, group working, intensive phase in Finland and documentation of reflection after the intensive phase.
Execution methods Executed as an Erasmus Blended Intensive Program. The course consists of virtual teamwork and lectures + 5 day intensive part in Finland and reflection of learning after that. Intensive phase happens both at campus and in a camp site in forest.

The student plans and executes outdoor activities in nature in a safe and ecological way, with support of teachers as a part of interprofessional and intercultural team. The student tells about the importance of meaningfulness in one's well-being. The student identifies new competences and emotions as a person and has insights how he/she can apply these competencies as a professional.

Assessment Frameworks Not applicable
Further Information Accommodation at the camp site is in tents offered by Oamk. The students need to bring sleeping bags, mattresses and have proper clothing and gear to work outdoors.
