Objectives | I can repeat the melodies I hear on a pitched instrument (piano, guitar or bass), the melodies being based on different parameters. Those can be, for example, a certain type of chord or scale. I can function musically within an 8th note-, 16th and swung 8th note grids. I can also use my voice within the same parameters by marking certain notes of chords or scales, and am able to sing ascending and descending intervals up to one octave. I amass easy musical repertoire for piano or guitar. |
Content | Major and minor scales and pentatonics. Triads and four-note chords alongside the most common extensions. The blues scale. The most common scale degrees. Improvisation by vocalization and with a pitch instrument, ensemble playing, call-and-response with voice and instruments. |

Accomplishment methods | Lesson participation. Absences need to be compensated by additional homework. Alternative ways of completing the course must always be negotiated with the teacher. |
