KB00DN13 Business strategy and Creative practices (5 cr)

Objectives The student is able to recognize and utilize his/her strategic and creative competencies and apply them in business - be it developing current practices or innovating new business strategies.

Business Strategy (2,5cr):
The student can recognize strategic challenges facing international and global companies. The student is able to define the main characteristics of strategic management and have the capacity to apply strategic management concepts and tools into practice. The student perceives the strategic role of customer understanding. The student recognizes and analyses the business strategies of current business companies as case studies. The student is able to practice strategic thinking in developing and leading businesses.

Creative practices (2,5cr):
The student understands the basics of design thinking and design projects. The student understands the concept of megatrends and can apply them in the strategic renewal process. The student can explore new innovative and creative methods and can become more creative and innovative as a professional. S/he can use innovation methods and tools relevant to different professional/business contexts. The student can conceptualize new strategy scenarios and develop them by iterative processes.
Content Business Strategy:
Reading relevant books. Strategic management and thinking concepts and principles. Introduction and use of strategy tools and models. Introduction of customer understanding approaches and tools. Analysing business strategies of practical case studies.

Creative practices and strategic renewal:
Definitions and the use of megatrends. Definitions and use of design thinking as a development philosophy and practice. Definitions and use of creative and innovative mindset, tools and methods for development. Conceptualization and the development of new business strategies, products, services and business ideas via case studies.
