Objectives The student gains understanding of the relevant research terminology. The student is aware of the ethical principles of research, ethical challenges and approval processes. The student can describe quantitative, qualitative, design science and mixed methods approaches to research. The student can identify the components of a literature review process. The student can critically analyze published research. The student will be able to understand the purpose of research and information methods (the design, implementation, and reporting) of a work field-specific thesis. The student will understand the concepts of how previous studies have used research and information methods. The student will analyze evidence-based information that applies to his/her topic and methodology. The student will apply the principles of scientific communication methods to communicate his/her research and information-related findings using written and oral formats. The student will apply research and information methods in the design of his/her thesis plan. The student will understand the essential components of quantitative research methods. The student will understand the essential components of qualitative research methods. The student will understand principles of design science and mixed methods.
