AT00DA60 Basic Studies in Social Ballroom Dance (10 cr)
Prerequisites Preliminary skills fof the required objectives of the course.
Objectives I set learning goals to develop my own dance skills. I understand the common and specific dance technique basic concepts in the couple dance reference framework. I act responsibly in the development of the capabilities and the skills of dance. I will dance the basic level dance material of couple dance in its appropriate style. My dancing is well related to the music. I describe the core phenomena, teaching culture and methods of learning the skills of couple dance. I asses the development of my skills and development needs as well as my strengths in relation to working life of couple dance.
Content Dance Technique: Breathing, core and body support, alignments, grounding, weight transfer, spatial directions of motion, partnering, body connections, body rhytmn, dynamics, movement quality.

Dance Style Specific Dance Techinique: Basic principles of dance sport, footwork, foot positions, alignment and direction, rise and fall, bounce action, sway and rotational body movements.

Applying dance sport techniques to social dance in Latin Dance, Standard Dance, Swing Dance. Folk Dance in social dance.

Familiarize with the culture of Social Dance. Cultural visit.
Planning of teaching session, implementation evaluation.
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
