Prerequisites | The student should demonstrate that he/she has gain the competences learned on first year. |
Objectives | The student demonstrates ability to justify the choice and planning of orthotics using conceptual models and frames of references in occupational therapy. The student has developed knowledge about the indications and contraindications for orthotics and cervical collars. She / he is able to assess the need of an individual for orthotics and cervical collars and their effect on the occupational performance. The student is able to plan and prepare different types of static and dynamic orthotics and cervical collars to enable client¿s occupational performance. The student has developed knowledge and skills to apply kinesiological principles in the planning and preparation of orthotics. The student know basic principales wound healing. |
Content | Conceptual models and frames of references of occupational therapy for the planning and preparation of orthotics. Basics of making orthotics. Static and dynamic splints and orthotics. Cervical collars. Ready made orthotics. Wound healing. |
