7F00BX75 Advanced Therapy Methods (3 cr)
Prerequisites Course is strongly recommended to be chosen at the second half of studies, because the basics for all of the topics will be gained during first one and half years.
Objectives The student knows the basics of some advanced, adaptive treatment methods in physiotherapy, and he knows their evidence based background. The student is able to counsel the patient whether those methods could be suitable for him or not. He knows how to broaden and deepen his own knowledge and skills later on.
Content The topics vary and are nominated yearly to make it possible for students to participate several times in order to learn more. Each year will be chosen 1-2 topics. For instance: Lymph drainage therapy, Orthopedic Manual Therapy, Neural Tissue Mobilisation, McKenzie, Maitland methods, Sensory Integration, Fascia Manipulation etc
Recommended optional programme components If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.
Accomplishment methods Active participation on practical workshops and assignments.
Execution methods According to chosen topics: webinars, lectures, practical workshops, individual workin.

Evaluation Criteria

The student explains by using appropriate literature the fundamentals of the methods studied in the course. The student gives examples about to which patients, why and when the method can be used. He is familiar with the research done about the topic and describes the main features of evidence behind the method. Depending the topic the student shows acceptable level of manual and/or guidance skills.
